A chocolate winter wonderland

Chocolate tastings, workshops, live demonstrations, and various activities for all ages are awaiting visitors of Limassol’s first municipality market in the old town all weekend.

The municipal market and plaza will be turned into a chocolate winter wonderland, where visitors will be able to make chocolates and learn all about the much- loved substance. There will be chocolate-making, chocolate face-painting, a chocolate fountain, chocolate games and experiments such as chocolate volcanoes and magic chocolate and a wheel of fortune offering a chance to win from a variety of ION chocolates. Awarded chocolate-makers from Cyprus and abroad will create chocolate sculptures and hold live demonstrations.

“We want to offer something really unique and well-organised,” says Elena Menelaou, one of the three organisers at Pame Productions. “We want our visitors to walk away truly satisfied and happy to have come.”

Chocolatiers and sponsors
The different activities and tastings are offered by several chocolatiers such as La Galerie, Choco Là, Kalopesas, Boutique Patisserie Julietta. The event organisers have also engaged several sponsors, media sponsors and supporters.

All proceeds will be donated to the Association ‘Friends of the Centre for Preventive Paediatrics’, a registered non-profit organisation in Limassol. Since its foundation in 1988, the centre has been a pioneer in the implementation of universal prenatal and neonatal screening programmes.

Chocolate workshops
Chocolate-making workshops will run during all three days with special guests including chefs from Belgium, France and Greece. The renowned Greek chef Dina Nicolaou will share her secrets for unique chocolate treats during a closed seminar, cooking alongside popular local personalities. This seminar is sponsored by La Galerie & Londa Hotel and the money raised will also be donated to the Friends of the Centre for Preventive Paediatrics.

Real snow
At the square outside, visitors will get to enjoy a real snow playground and fun wintery educational experiments including a snow storm, dry ice, frozen bubbles and melting ice, organised by Archimedes Science Centre, whose mission is to entertain, educate and fuel a passion for science and technology. There will also be music, superior street food, wine and mulled wine and carriage rides with ‘Frozen’ fairytale characters.
