Limassol-based Donna Pearson found a gap in the market when friends of hers had to move back to the UK on short notice, thus having to sell their home.

A fully qualified digital marketer by profession, Pearson offered to create a website specifically for the sale of the property and market it for them online.

Seven weeks later, the house was sold and the former owners on their way to the UK with money in their bank account.

The premise is to spend a small amount for a professional to properly showcase one’s property online and be contacted by potential buyers directly instead of paying hefty agent fees.

On an island where so many people are foreigners and where so many seem to be constantly moving, helping with that move appeared to be a good business idea. Created not even a year ago, it immediately took off and already has a list of testimonials to show for on the marketer’s own website.

Pearson, who used to work in the financial sector and who has been in advertising, sales and marketing for over 30 years, has lived in Cyprus for 14. She is very sociable and, apart from having her own online marketing company, she is also the president of Limassol Toastmasters and actively involved with the Coeur de Lions and several other charities. Helping comes natural to her and she finds it rewarding to assist make something that can be so challenging so easy.

“Creating a website does away with less serious buyers because photographs of the entire home are featured.” explains Pearson. “Cars and furniture can also been included on the website and I always describe the surrounding areas to make the picture complete.

“We have also partnered with conveyancing lawyers and removal companies which have agreed to provide good service, easing the stress.”

The homeowners – especially the elderly – appreciate help with skills they do not possess, such as posting and sharing via different social media, online groups, forums and websites.

Pearson had no idea that one day she would use her skills to help others sells their homes, but says she really enjoys turning something that is deemed to be a stressful life event into the joyous experience of moving on that it should be.
