Life's a Beach - at Guaba Beach Bar

Partying outdoors to the music of world class DJs or just ‘hanging out’ with old and new friends

Guaba Beach Bar is celebrating its 10th birthday this year and since its beginnings with a few benches in the sand and an old boat as a bar, it seems to have been going from strength to strength. The long lines of party-goers outside the venue located on the seafront road of Agios Tychonas attest to the fact.

It seems the secret to its success is its uniqueness - not a bar, not a club, not a beach. ‘It’s ‘just a fun place to hang out - to come to with 2 friends and leave with five’ says Guaba team member Panos.  And even though the majority of guests are in their mid-twenties, any age group can be found (the minimum age to get in is 17). The crowd is usually international, with everyone sharing the love of a friendly, cliché-free environment. The place opens daily at 10:00 a.m. and the use of its beach and sun beds is free of charge and there is a resident DJ playing from 2:00 p.m. Generally there is no entrance fee and if there is a €5 cover charge, it will include one drink.

The bar is well-known for bringing world class Djs to town, usually filling the place to its capacity of 2.500. Great names like the Dutch Martin Garrix, who are regularly featured at renowned clubs in places like Ibiza and Miami have performed and all agree in that Guaba is a unique favourite with its casual, down to-earth atmosphere and excitable party crowd.

The Beach Bar has recently also added activities like free yoga and Zumba mornings. Their weekday evenings feature different themes such as Reggae Mondays, Locorico Tuesdays featuring Reggaeton and Latin beats, Sex Me Wednesdays featuring sexy house music and Mini Sundays on Thursdays. The weekends see Funhouse Fridays, Latin Party Saturdays and of course their famous Sunday parties from 10am to 9pm. But, according to Panos, ‘A party can pop up any time’.

And while some may prefer a traditional ‘club atmosphere’ with stylish surroundings, it seems there are plenty who are ready to join those impromptu parties in shorts and T-shirts and/or jump up and down to the tunes of a world-class DJ along with a few thousand others, celebrating those hot summer days and nights that Limassol gets to enjoy.
