Why everyone should try some luscious fig chutney

After having been traumatized in childhood by dried figs, I only discovered in adult life that when eaten fresh, figs are a whole different and very delicious story. And I've discovered fig chutney! I now live in Cyprus where the fig season is long and the luscious fruit readily available. I am almost obsessed with them. I just have to keep buying them and often serve them at Mary's Dinner Club. To eat fresh, straight out of the bag, in a salad, on a cheese platter, with pasta…

My latest discovery: Fig chutney

Just recently I could not resist and came home with a bagful of very ripe figs - they had been so cheap. The new addiction you will have guessed: Fig chutney! Oh the beauty of the savory and sweet flavors of the soft and seedy texture… unbelievable!

What to do with fig chutney

Yes, the recipes all say you’ll enjoy it with meat, but have you tried with cheese? I had baked pumpkin bread earlier on and made a discovery: Bread with white cheddar, chutney and a few leaves of rocket salad – heaven! I made several jars of chutney and am sure I’ll discover more uses, but for now this is an absolute winner!
